I agree, but we love love love traveling, and we want to get some more family memories in before our son leaves home. We actually travel quite well together, all of us, even with The Dog. We didn't get to take a big trip last year, the most we did was go camping a couple times, spent 4 days I think driving Oklahoma to see waterfalls. So our last "real" trip we count as a true vacation was when we went to see The Wife's family in St. Vincent in July of 2019. I am one of those people who really needs to take some time to recharge a couple times a year, and need to feel like I am achieving something by working like I do - instead of just making payments on a balance sheet. Like... what am I working for, you know? And we didn't want to fly and and deal with the airlines' BS this year. This is 100% why I left my previous job and moved into daily office work. More time at home to spend with the family, more chance to build memories, etc. It's been 3 years this week since I started this job, and while money has been significantly tighter, we have adapted and managed. I wouldn't go back - and in fact turn down offers to go back all the time.
