I was driving on I-35 last night and was changing lanes the from far left to the middle lane. A motorcyclist, probably traveling at least 85-90 mph, shot out from between the car I had just passed in the middle lane and the car beside him in the far right lane. I was moving into the middle lane when he went by my right door, real close. Three more then came by, all of them weaving through traffic, passing between adjacent cars, etc., traveling very fast. The one that passed me, slowed down in front of me, and turned around and stared at me as if I were the idiot. I guess now I need to start looking for traffic that is lane splitting at 90 mph when I am changing lanes.
If I were to guess, I'd say he had California plates. Lane sharing (motorcycles riding the lane dividers) is legal (or, at least, not illegal...yet) out there.

Here, but occasionally There.
The issue of inattentive drivers being a danger for motorcyclists was refreshed in my memory today, only I wasn't on a motorcycle. Wife and I were in our full-sized Ford Expedition Max that is painted bright red.

Heading west across Highway 9 from I-35 south of Norman and a person in a Dodge pickup suddenly pulls over into my lane without signaling or anything...just a sudden movement into the lane. Thankfully, in that area just west of the Riverwind casino, there is a turning lane in the center where I could maneuver. Went a ways further and the same vehicle wanted to stay just far enough behind and to the left of a slower vehicle in the right lane. It was almost like they wanted to prevent me from passing either of them.

When I finally got past them as they were getting over to head onto Highway 62, I noticed that it was a lady driver, and she had a passenger with her and was talking a mile a minute. I imagine that she just didn't even think to look before changing lanes earlier because she was involved with conversation instead of driving.

I was passing a truck on the Turner when a woman motorcyclist got in between me and the truck. She wheeled in front of me and slowed down. Three more female types on cyclemotors then swooped in front of me and headed off into the sunset with female number one smoking it trying to catch up.
I have never seen that tactic before, or since.

Women in the wind? I used to know this gal who was killed on her motorcycle here in Tulsa when someone cut her off. Her name was Deborah Vaught.

Wait until you get caught in a mess of 50 to a hundred of them, while they slow traffic down to a near standstill on straight interstate sections and then several will move ahead and have a race... then they all take off behind them. Why do they do this? Because they can and by the time police arrive, they're 10 -15 miles ahead and have split up on several exits. This has happened to me twice in the past 10 years....one was just west of Shawnee when I was returning late night from a trip. It was over and done with before I could give a complete report to 911...

Have 70K on our Goldwing.....we, too, refer to these idiots as 'organ donors'. Sooner or later a harvest will be done. I NEVER ride in town (too many idiot drivers) .....may pass thru a town or 2 on our travels but that's it. The bike is for out of town traveling. Been to California twice ( will never return ) , Canada, Key West, Tenn., etc. We try to avoid interstates as much as possible.
