I wish my buddy would stick his engine together that i built for him many years ago and dyno it.
He bent a rod when he left it out in the rain and hydrauliced it.

It was a 355' with ported 305 heads 1.94-1.50 valves a 292H cam and tunnelram with 2 600 afb's.
It went 11.94 at 116 mph in a 78 nova on 91 octane 7-11 gas.

He just needs a new set of pistons and 1 rod and some time.

I will be finishing my 385" flat top engine pretty soon and test it,. hope I make at least mid 300Hp at the wheels

400 crank HP or wheel HP?
400 crank HP is almost too easy today, even the tiny 327" can get that with a smallish roller cam XE270HR and good heads afr 180 eliminator.
Some flat tops and performer rpm intake.

I thought about the LS platform then priced a gasket set for the LS. I'm out.
I have been in and drove the stock 5.3 stuff and some 5.3 trucks with some tune mods and exhaust. not my cup of tea I suppose.
They feel a bit slow.

More for all of you guys I guess.
When I tear all my small blocks up I have 3 big blocks to play with.
2 are 396's and 1 427"
Actually thought about an old school 396 build with the forged pistons I have and some open chamber heads to keep compression in the below 9:1 area.
Then a dual draw through turbo set up blowing into a tunnel-ram.
Like the old boats used to run.

I took it to Abel Racing and MoBoost stuck this pig on the dyno.
It made 217 at the wheels.
Changed timing and made 1HP different I think that is what it was,, then i changer rear metering rods to make it richer just because it was already rich.
Made 3 less HP.. not picky on the tune.
Next time it see's the dyno it will have dumps installed and possibly larger fuel line than the factory stock 5/16"

Thank you Abel Racing for the dyno time .

That's not half bad!
With the ls platform in trucks they don't feel "hot rody" my truck has the 5.3 in it with a tune and some minor upgrades and while it feels better then stock it still feels like a truck. I do think when I'm done with this small block I have I will be looking into a 6.0 with some goodies.
