One of the Ruger Blackhawk I took the cylinders out .4110 with a wood dowel and 400 grit wet/dry the best I could. Shot the JK and OT bullets with both groups the same or slightly better as pre cylinder work. Will work on the barrel restriction next. Looks like it is restricted to .4095/.4100 at the frame.

Stupid Rugers.

My 45 Colt Blackhawk was the same way ..cylinders .003" difference and the barrel restriction..I don't say WTF very often but this crud that Ruger pawns off on the public is unacceptable.

I made my own lapping compound with grease and the aluminum oxide wet sand paper.. I burned the paper and collected the ashes and added it to the grease and applied it to some pure soft cast lead bullets..
A small amount of 231 or bullseye powder sent the bullets out the barrel like .3CC. I could point straight down into a 2 foot pile of house carpet pull the trigger and watch the bullet bounce up off the carpet about 3".

Saved the bullets and after 10 rounds i would check the bore.
Took a few rounds to get the restriction out.

I cleaned all the lube and compound from the gun after every 6 shots.

It did end up shooting better.. but I found that brass cases I got were wildly different thicknesses.. Sold the gun.

Just too much work for not enough return in the accuracy department.
One cylinder was just less than .0005" different than the others when all was said and done.. that 1 cylinder would make the flier in the group.

I have an Arminius 357 mag.. all cylinders are .357" on the money.. No barrel restrictions.. the barrel slugs at .3565"
Super accurate. German made. That one spoiled me i suppose.

You can take a bore mop and some paper towels around it if you need it larger and apply clear coat polishing compound to it to really put the chrome slick shine on the cylinders.

Keep it up magna19 and maybe you will have a really great shooter.

Got a chance to try some Lyman 410259 220 gr. and 410610 gas check 215 gr. Thanks Calamity Jake for offering them to try. The Lyman 410259 flat base shot as good in Ruger #1 and lot better in Ruger #2. Also did well in the SBH.

The 410610 215 gr. gas check didn't fair as good.

SBH shoots most bullets very accurate.

I got some silicon carbide paste in for the fire lapping of Ruger BH #1. The kit came with 120 180 240 320 400 600 800. I put 210 deg to some 215 gr. cast bullets and removed the lubed. Then loaded primed unresized cases of 3.0 gr of W231 powder. Shot a total of 36 rounds. Cleaned the gun in between each 6 shots. First 18 shots 180/240/320 6 shots each. Then 12 shots with the 400, then finished with 6 shots with the 600 grit. I didn’t use the 120 or 800. The fire lapping loads went 500-510 fps over the chronograph. Shot the same loads as previously to compare the fire lapping and was very happy with the results. I shot one jacketed bullet prior to each 215 gr cast load. Oregon Trails on the left went 6 @ 2.31 and 2.74 the JK Bullets on the right went 6 @ 1.54 and 2.06. I usually don’t call pulled shots unless extremely obvious but the one low/right shot in the JK Bullet load was pulled. I may stop here and be satisfied with this gun and load.
