I drew the only tag this year for the Cookson refuge elk hunt. I’ve been out there scouting several times and had seen quite a few nice bulls along with cows and calf’s. Anyway, my hunt was today along with a scheduled draw youth hunt for deer. I had seen some cows right after daylight but never could seem to find a bull. Every place that we checked where the bulls had been they were gone. About 10 this morning I spotted a decent bull going to a wheat field. After scoping him out I decided he was the one and just like that, my once in a lifetime hunt is over. I’m not a trophy hunter but this 5x5 bull is a trophy for me. By the way I got to meet up with Jared, one of our local wardens(you all may have heard of him). Thank you Jesus for a great day!
