My Great Grandpa in the newspaper

Newspaper clipping of my great grandpa. He was a hunter/trapper and had an interesting outing one day...
This was from the early 60s

I guess those who aren't around trappers/hunters or animals with a bounty...a little explanation.

At the time there were bounties for coyotes. Instead of brining the whole animal in for the bounty, you would scalp the ears off and turn in the ears to get your bounty. Apparently the coyote was shot, scalped for ears and left for dead but obviously survived and healed but now had no ears...then my great grandpa took him down and saw the scars and took the whole animal in for his bounty.

I've got one somewhere of my great grandpa standing next to one like that from the Prague paper, only they called it a wolf lol. 1940's or 50's iirc.

That’s pretty cool old story at one time they were going to offer money for hogs ears here but it never happened

Good thing they didn’t, it’s a perverse incentive. We would get more hogs. Aka the cobra effect.
