Ah. I was thinking that was a "brace".
Sure seems like the developments in stabilizing devices is making the distinction near moot.

Agreed. At the time I SBR’d, SB Tactical hadn’t released the collapsible brace. The only option was to put an adapter pistol buffer and brace on. Which I didn’t like at all. Also, at the time it was “illegal” to shoulder a braced pistol. Now that SB Tactical and others have came a long way. Almost to the point where I wouldn’t mess with all the hassle. Especially with the ATF revision of the shouldering element.

My Mpx project (Which has consumed most of my gun funds over the last couple years) is coming to completion.
I started with the Standard MPX Gen 1 pistol.
Applied for SBR - waited a year (July 2016) and got my stamp.
Purchased an Omega 9k suppressor - ( again July 2016) got my stamp.
Had the barrel cut and threaded at 4.5” inch added 3 Lug device
Attached Rugged Flush 3 lug mount to suppressor
Installed Safe Harbor KES stock (liked it a lot better than the OEM)
Installed a BFS binary trigger system - hell yeah!
Sawpped out the oem charging handle for the raptor.
Swapped out the OEM grip with a magpul K2.
Trying to decide between the Sig optic and my MRO. Like them both but like the mro better on my AR. Not sure how I’ll end up.
Found a great deal on an MPX-K hand guard. That’s where I need help deciding.

Pros for “k” rail:
Lighter
Shorter - fits in back pack without suppressor.
If I shoot unsupressed (rare) the barrel is not tucked in hand guard.
Keymod for easy attachment.
Less potential heat transfer from can to hand rail.

Pros for original:
Love the shrouded look.
More space on rail for hand / accessories.

My questions would be, what looks like it would work better? Am I right in thinking that if I heat up the can, it will heat up the handguard? With the BFS trigger the can gets pretty warm. I thought about getting a high heat jacket for the can if I keep it in the “k” configuration. Which do you prefer?

Tell me more about the trigger and a Raptor charging handle. Hmm. I have a Gen 2 that maybe getting a integral suppressed barrel.

Raptor.
The main reason I changed out the charging handle to the raptor is because I have a Gen 1. The factory charging handle would sag a little and wear a “bald spot” on the back of the reciever. I believe they fixed that in the gen 2. I do like function of it as well because if I’m holding it by the hand guard with my left hand, I can easily grab it with the right from the side and work it.

BFS
This trigger System has both semi and binary mode.
Semi is as normal.
Binary fires a round when the trigger is pulled and when the trigger is released. It’s pretty slick. It can be a PITA to install but it’s a lot of fun now that it’s up and running.
