Fringe
I knew I liked it as a kid but I watched a few episodes during the lockdown and could not stand Penny and her happy springy bouncy teenage naive crap. Also some of the plot was just ridiculous.
I Have no idea what Fringe even is.
It was one of the best sci-fi series to make it past its first season on broadcast TV. It's definitely the best to do it on Fox. It had some incredibly long through-lines in the plot, and they did a fantastic job of building the universe so that you'd get completely sucked into otherwise completely unbelievable pseudo-science. Trek dabbled in alternate realities and the multiverse with its Mirror Universe episodes of TOS, DS9, and Enterprise, but Fringe made it a central part of the show.
Also, there are are lots of little touches, like a recurring event that's never called out, and pictographs before/after the commercial breaks that combine to give you a clue about the next episode.
