I don't know why I would feel bad. NASA and the Air Force have always been very close. Damn near all the astronauts trace their careers back to the AF. GPS would not have been possible without NASA blazing the way into space. True that many things get accredited to NASA for which they had no part in development. Things like Teflon and Velcro come to mind. But to deny the benefits brought by NASA research is short sighted. http://science.howstuffworks.com/innovation/nasa-inventions/nasa-high-tech-products.htm http://science.howstuffworks.com/innovation/inventions/top-5-nasa-inventions.htm As to the "other earth" discovery. It is a mathematical certainty that another earth like planet exists somewhere. Look up at all the stars if you can away from light pollution. Do you think those are just there for us to look at? All of those stars are Suns with planetary systems surrounding them just like ours. There are too many to count and we only see a fraction of our own Milky Way Galaxy let alone the whole universe. To deny the ability to get to any of these exoplanets is one thing but to deny the existence of such worlds is mathematically impossible. Exhibit A. If you want to navigate and explore the image on your own to see that the little dots are not just background noise.
