I’m no expert by any means, but if it were me, I’d go with the tried and true 5.0 v8.

My Dad and youngest son both had eco boosts with problems, so that definitely wouldn’t be my pick.

I have an Expedution Max and they only offer the 3.5 Wish they offered a v8. What kind of problems did they have?

FWIW, if they’ll both do what you need, I’d lean toward the V8 (my ‘13 is Coyote-powered), but I don’t think you can go wrong with either mill.

Had F150s with the 2.7 an the 3.5. Both great motors. Now have an Expi w/ a 3.5.

If you read the forums, both platforms, the coyote and Ecoboost can have issues, but they are the minority. Impossible to say which is a better deal without option packages.

A V6 has 4 main bearings, a V8 has 5.

If you're going to work it much, I'd go with the V8 even if power is similar.

Just my 2¢ ...

Tried and true 5.0.
Yea that 5.0 of today is nothing like the old school 5.0.

I have a neighbor with the newer V8 Ford and it has had it's issues.
My friend at the cam shop has a 2018 Limited with the 3.5 V6 twin Turbo.
24 MPG with 2000 lbs of camshafts in the bed to Huston and back.
12.1 MPG pulling my pontoon from my house to Thunder bird lake and back.
That pontoon drags a ridiculous amount of wind.

His 2018 has the 10 speed automatic and is 4 wheel drive 4 door.
My 57 Chevy with a 280H comp cam and 750 carb and NO overdrive got 11.5 MPG pulling the same boat but to Texoma and back.
With AC on.
I felt better after seeing his MPG.

I do love that twin turbo Power though.
Darn thing is quick.

Are you sure the V8 is a 5.0? I thought they only came in a 4.6 or 5.4 that year. I have a 2003 F15O 4.6 and it’s a fairly good engine. Working on that 4.6 yourself though can be a challenge at times.
Yeah, it's a 5.0. That's the only V8 available in the F-150 since 2015. The 4.6 and 5.4 haven't been available in the F-150 since the 2010 MY.
