Hey everyone, I found out how much this rifle actually means to my dad as it's the last one left from his father that passed when he was 2 years old. I'd like to refinish the stock and re-blue the metal. Any advice?

If you care about the value of the gun - don't re-blue it, I'm not sure how the stock refinishing affects the value, but it will probably cost more than the gun will be worth or is worth now, in dollars. Now, my personal opinion is that, if it's a gun I don't care to ever get rid of and I'm simply trying to preserve it from rust damage and such, re-blue away. My dad has a .22 Colt Buntline that was my grandfathers that he doesn't want to re-blue, but I keep telling him to do it to keep it from rusting away because it has become more of an heirloom that won't ever be sold.
