What's wrong with Bushmaster? They're better quality than PSA.

My Bushy got renamed to a Remington R-15 when they first came out. The only factory brass lower receiver I've ever seen.

I've seen a few pics of deteriorating rifling in PSA barrels with as little as 500 rounds through em. Can't say I've seen that from Bushmaster.

I think your co worker was sliiiiightly exaggerating there. Even the cheapest barrel out there will last longer than that. Unless the guy was doing mag dumps. Even then highly unlikely likely to see deterioration at 500 rds

I have seen throat erosion at very low round counts on super cheapo barrels

I have gone through almost 8 lbs of H4895 and I have used other powders for loading for my .223 rifles(4 of them) and 2 get shot more than others.
I could not guess how many rounds through my PSA stainless freedom rifle but it shoots perfect and accuracy has not fallen off.
MOA or better accuracy 55gr hornady bullets.
1:7 twist.
I don't rapid fire my rifles.. I care about hunting accuracy so no need in doing dumb stuff to a tool I plan on using for many more years.

If you are doing mag dumps then you probably care less about accuracy and more about WOW! that was cool.
