I've heard good things about the Ylidiz (Academy) A71 in 20 ga. Haven't actually held one.

Weatherby SA-08. Very popular with kids/youth at the trap range. I've never seen one with a FTF or ejection issue. Pretty sure they're around the $500 range. I'm not a fan of pumps for self defense.

These are the two that popped into my head when I read the original post. I was considering both before I bought my 20g Franchi Affinity...as they are similar in size and weight, but not so much in price.

I have Win1400s, Rem 1100s and 11-87s, 12 and 20.
Trust me ALL the above Remingtons are heavier than the 1400.
If granny can't handle the 1400 12 ga, she can't handle ANY 12 ga shotgun.

I have a 5 1/2 pound 20ga O/U she could probably hold up to fire, but I bet lunch money ONE SHOT and she would quit because it hurt.

Yeah, the Mossy SA-20 Youth and Turkey both weigh about 5.5lbs. The 1400 I think is something like 6.5lbs. Also, the shorter barrel should help pull the weight towards the butt. I think that's part of the problem: the weight is in the 28in barrel.

Used beretta 1200/1201fp. Very light and extremely easy to operate. Inertia gun, fast shooting
