Also you can’t quickly dunk it it needs to be good and wet I’ve formed many sheaths.

I've been doing leatherwork since the early 60's,,,
I've made hundreds of holsters, knife sheaths, and gun belts.

I even have an Associates Certification in "Shoe, Boot, and Saddle-making" from OSU, Okmulgee,,,
Granted, the Certification was obtained back in 1998,,,
But leather hasn't changed much since then.

It does you no advantage to "soak" the leather in water,,,
That only means it takes a lot longer to finally dry out.

Now if you are trying to form a newly manufactured holster,,,
The finish might prevent water from actually getting into the leather.

In those cases a longer dunk might be necessary,,,
But at any rate it's still never necessary to over-wet the leather.

It just leaches out any protective oils,,,
And takes forever to fully dry out.

"That saran wrap will leak and may rust your pistol in 24 hours (just my 2 cents)"

I suppose that the Saran Wrap could leak,,,
But in all my years doing this,,,
It's never happened.

Nobody said soak in water needs to be fully wet. Not just damp. Wouldn’t form very well. Im out good luck fellas. O and my grandfather was a shoe cobbler and I started leather working in cub scouts.
