[QUOTE="RugersGR8, post: 3235023, member: 56"] Don’t get me wrong, if a student can better himself/herself, they should be able to. If a student comes from one these areas with good test score, no criminal record, good attitude, being truly able to handle college/university level courses, etc. then I could see him/her getting breaks in getting into higher ed. But that this should not have more importance or override other deserving students not being accepted. IMHO, I just think that the secretiveness of this program, if there is no outside oversight of how these numbers are arrived at, who determines the winning recipients, etc., etc., this makes it far too easy for the program to be abused by those running the program. How to make a program like this work will take a lot more study and a lot of oversight if implemented. To make somewhat of a comparison on the possibility of abuse, we have already seen the abuses arising in women’s sports where males identifying as females are making it all but impossible for biological females to win in their sporting events.
