Got a new1851 colt replica and wanted a finish that looked like it was 150 yeAr old family heirloom. This is what I came up with, with my initials on the grip with some kill markings. This is my first attempt at trying this and thinking about doing it to

I used a scotch brite pad and white vinager to get most of the bluing off. Then degreased all the metal parts minus the internals, then greased the bore and chambers. After that I put all major metal parts to get rusted in a plastic box with a cup of mauratic acid with the top on and left for a day. Then with 0000 steel wool I carded off most of the rust mostly on the high spots like it has been in and out if a holster and oiled up and reasembled.
