She got her first taste of waterfowl when I got home today and loved it. I'm amazed by the instincts that are in their DNA with no formal training. She retrieved this bird about a dozen times and brought it right to hand nearly every time. I think she's going to be a heck of a dog.

Starting to work on water retrieves. She's picking it up fast. Sits and holds until I send her. Hopefully this time next year I won't be chasing down my own cripples any more.

Just saw this and can only say.... Now this is a great Sunday morning thread!

Got the pup out on her first hunt today after several simulated hunts over the past couple of months. I wasn't expecting much at 5 months, just wanted to give her a taste before she goes off to formal training in February. She did great! Eyes glued to the sky and got to retrieve a few birds.

I know man! She's growing up too fast. I'll be sending her to Cindy Leonard at Grand River kennels.
