I have pictures like this. My hunting buddy is now 12 yrs old and "retired". I'll never forget some of our experiences together. Remember these times.

It's been a while since I posted in this thread but I had to update my journey with Belle. This dog has been an absolute pleasure to work with this year and continues to exceed my expectations. The drive amazes me on every hunt. Some of the retrieves she has made this year have been pretty spectacular including a blind over a dike that had to be close to 200 yds. I really need to make it a point to get more video.

Some of you know the struggles I had with getting a new pup after losing my last one. It took a while but I'm really glad I finally got over the hump and did it. The relationship that is developing with this one is pretty awesome. When a dog instinctively turns and looks at you when she needs direction instead of waiting for the whistle, you know there is some trust there. That won't win ribbons (in which I have zero interest) but it will get birds!

On a side note, if you're a dog lover and especially a hunting dog lover, look up Tony Vandemore and his dedication to his dog Ruff. It really captures the relationship a man can have with a good hunting dog. Just be warned, it may cause a bug or two to fly into your eye.

Here are some pics from this season. I'll try to get a video or two up as well.

Hopefully you guys enjoy seeing this stuff because I really enjoy posting about her. Sounds funny, but it's almost therapeutic after losing my last one.

This was a cripple snow goose that sailed on us the other day. The video doesn't do it justice but it was far enough that my buddy and I couldn't tell if what we saw was actually a bird or not but I sent the pup to investigate. She typically takes a line pretty well.

Absolutely amazing photos and a great story! There is little to match the bond a man can have with his dog. She looks so intelligent and bred to the task. I can tell you guys are a great team. And therapeutic? Oh yeah, a good dog is definitely good for the heart and soul. Thanks very much for posting this up; you made my day!
