Did you get a Tasco Bucksight scope??
I tested mine out a few times in the last month.
Clarity at 500 yards is very good on the 3-9x40 Bucksight with the CF500 Ballistic reticle.
Low light is very good in fact better than all the other scopes I have or had. That includes the nikon buckmaster 3-9x40.
For a 39 dollar scope I was very impressed..I just today got another one.
I have 4 tasco scopes not counting these 2 buck sights. and None of them have failed.
I like the thickness of the Reticle on this one also.. Not too thin and not fat like the buckmaster.
