I showed up here when we had the minimum thread count, back then, and even now, I feel like having a minimum post count goes to prove that you’re here for more than selling/buying. Granted, anyone can make 25 mediocre posts allowing them to access the classifieds, but it was a way to give individuals a chance to introduce themselves and see the value in contributing before getting the homie hookup on the classifieds. the “we’re all a family” thing is crap. We’re all a bunch of opinionated buttholes. We have our differences. We want to help each other out when it comes to our shared hobbies though. We get a little grumpy if someone wants to taste the fruits of membership without contributing to the collective brain. With most established members, I don’t feel the need to count money in front of the other party. The other day when buying a shotgun barrel from @CHenry i was invited inside because it was cold outside. That spoke volumes to me and meant a lot, honestly. Myself, if it wasn’t someone established, I wouldn’t have considered it. Showing yourself to be a part of the community brain shows yourself to be a little more trustworthy than the average schmuck off armslist.
