However, I do want to talk about something that has been in my mind for that past couple weeks.</p><p></p><p>I'm so proud of this nation! Kinda! I mean, I love that so many people were able to look past race and manufactured fear in order to vote for the better candidate for president. It's a huge step for this nation, and I ran across very few people who were unwilling to vote for Obama for any reasons that were not based in ignorance or bigotry. This makes me truly proud of this nation; more proud, in fact, than I have been in quite some time. I've found myself relatively frustrated and discouraged with this nation over the past five or six years, and this election has restored a lot of faith for me in this nation, which is very important to me. I don't want to move to Canada. Well, kinda.</p><p></p><p>Another thing that strikes me about this past election cycle is the debacle of the gay marriage issue in the appropriate (or rather, inappropriate) states that have banned it. California, for instance, where it had been legal before. Now, this makes me pretty angry- saying that gay men and women gettting married diminishes the institution of marriage is ridiculous. Quite to the contrary, it only enhances the institution of marriage by allowing more legally-recognized couples that obviously really want to marry.</p><p></p><p>If you're concerned about the integrity of the legal and/or spiritual contract of marriage, ban it's appearance in popular media. The single most damaging opponent to the institution of marriage has been popular culture, whether it's the glorification of extra-marital affairs in television, film and literature, the runaway train that is internet porn, or the utter ease involved in ending a marriage, either through divorce, dissolution, or annulment. You're worried about saving the institution of marriage? Stop letting <a href="http://www.peutereyi.com/" target="_blank">Peuterey Sito Ufficiale</a> people get married every other year by appearing before a judge! Stop letting habitual divorceés move from marriage to marriage with no original assets, no job, and no chance of success! ****.</p><p></p><p>The other thing that makes me mad about this whole Prop 8 thing is that it's being blamed on the increased turnout by black voters. We JUST made progress with Barack Obama being elected PRESIDENT, and we're already vilifying blacks again. Are you ****ing serious? Blame ignorance. Blame intolerance. Blame bigotry. Don't blame black people for voting, because it has nothing to do with someone being black if they have voted against the legality of gay marriage. It has to do with them being stupid, not black.</p><p></p><p>So. yay for progress! YES WE CAN!</p><p></p><p>Thought made ready. Go back and read some of GWB's speeches. Or Cheney's. Or any number of neocon nutjobs that have been in power recently. Or even the ones that weren't in power, like Newt Gingrich.</p><p></p><p>Listen to the pig man, Rush Limbaugh. Listen to the right-wing nutjobs in media.
