[QUOTE="C_Hallbert, post: 3056478, member: 42957"] In the 1960’s legal drinking age was 18yrs. in New York. My Uncle Dick was a Pilot for Eastern Airlines and a WWII Army Air Force Veteran Pilot, before that. He developed a great lifetime friendship with alcohol during the war and introduced me to his old friend when I came of age. Dick liked good scotches and cheap beer. 25 yr Chivas Regal and Pinch Bottle Haig&Haig were always stocked in his cabinet. When he took a bottle off the shelf, it never went back because he didn’t collect empty bottles. Haig&Haig was my favorite but the old family sold the distillery and I haven’t had any since. The old Chivas was okay, but not equal to its competitor. An old friend from the Corps (Bill Hall) now a Boston area Architect, will argue that the only scotch is Famous Grouse which he says is a single malt. He drinks it neat, or in a faggardly ‘Rob Roy’ made with Martini & Rossi Sweet Vermouth, a couple of dashes of Angostura Bitters, but Bill omits the Cherry.
