Referenced by Bill Bryson in his memoir The Life and Times of the Thunderbolt Kid. He writes, "Of all the tragic losses since the 1960s, mimeograph paper may be the greatest. With its rapturously fragrant, sweetly aromatic pale blue ink, mimeograph paper was literally intoxicating.

In the film Fast Times At Ridgemont High, at one point a teacher hands out a ditto machine exam paper and every student in the class immediately lifts it to his or her nose and inhales.
