You choked the chicken good.
I used to have a copy of the 100th Anniversary edition of the Wall St. Journal, and one of its articles was about funny mistakes they'd made. One was when they ran a quote from a Southern gentleman on the front page, not realizing what his colloquialism meant when he said it was "more fun than choking chickens."

Had 1 rooster that was evil.
Granddaughter was laughing at her 2 younger brothers being afraid to gather eggs.

She goes out to gather eggs and I sneak to the window to watch.

She gets to the coop and is unlatching the door. Rooster comes racing around the barn. She turns and kicks, hitting him square it chest and launching him at my big mare. The mare whirls around and kicks and the rooster blasts off, 30' in the air and hits the ground with a thud.

Granddaughter is looking terrified. Checking to see if anybody has seen.
She runs over the rooster. He is coming to and sees her running.
He leaps up and is hauling it around the barn away from her. Leaving a trail of feathers.

From then on, if she was outside, the rooster was never seen.
