Stuck behind a gravel truck today, I saw one of those "Stay back 200 feet" "Not responsible for vehicle damage" signs on the back. Seen similar signs over the years and laughed them off, but is it even possible to NOT be responsible for objects or debris falling off your vehicle? If so, can I let a couch slide out of my truck on I-44, take out a smart car and refuse to accept liability? If My windshield got a star or crack, I'd be getting a license plate and calling in a report ASAP, regardless of what the truck owner claims. What's the law?
