I’m gonna get crucified for this but The NRA has pretty much Shot themselves in the foot on multiple occasions. Choosing Wayne Lapierre as president was big enough oops. But when I was a member they had something in my mailbox daily telling me who to vote for. It may not annoy some, but I like to think for myself when it comes to voting. Their sole focus was firearms..... I mean I get that..... but some these candidates were anti death penalty. Pro abortion. Lots of things I didn’t agree with about the candidate. I just found the thought it interesting that some folks don’t do much research on their own and probably voted as instructed. Like I said. I know I am gonna be brutalized for this post, so let er rip tater chip!

My only reply would be this... If you don't want to receive mailings or other contact you can set that under your member settings. It's very easy and it works. I get maybe 1 email per week on strictly 2A news. I NEVER get mail from them with the exception of the ballot for the board elections.

If you get something from them telling you who to vote for, and don't like it, how hard is it to just throw it away? I get junk mail all the time from various sources. It goes right into the trash can that conveniently sits very near the mailbox. At least the NRA will stop sending you stuff if you tell them to.

I agree with the sentiment but people haven't researched candidates for office since the first candidate for office came along. That's not something new and it isn't limited to the NRA. Just like people know their candidate (Joe Biden, for example) is a scumbag but they vote for him anyway.

BTW... I've been a Life Benefactor member for almost 20 years but haven't donated a penny since upgrading my membership. LaPierre was a douche back then, too.

I assume you can do all that online. I was a member more than 25 years ago BEFORE they had all the online stuff. If I could have just unsubscribed I would have. But at the time that wasn’t even a possibility! Yessssss I am an old fart! Lol

I stopped the mass mailings from the NRA in 1974 by simply calling on my telephone in 1974 to the NRA HQ number. Wish it were so easy to stop other unwanted solicitations.

I've been a NRA member for a LOONG time. Not going to dump them. The Left is seriously afraid of the NRA, as they should be. NRA has been involved in marksmanship and LE training activities, as well as gun safety efforts. They aren't strictly legislative. I read their politician reviews as part of my pre-vote education; not my only source of info though.

Some of you may remember the NRA leaderships attempt to close the DC area offices and move kit and caboodle to the big range in NM, NRA members revolted and put that to an end. WLP has been there a long time. Perhaps time for an orderly replacement for him and some of the BoD has come.

As of right now like it or not I've still got to be a NRA member in order to belong to Tri-City Gun Club in Norman and have a place that is close to go shoot.

Actually more NRA members and non members should be upset. The NRA at one time wielded a lot of power and was a force of change for the better. WLP bassically killed the NRA, the last two or three years they have done NOTHING on account of him. If there was one pro gun group that struck fear into the hearts of gun grabbers everywhere, it was the NRA. Where is the NRA now after Texas, they are in hiding, a shadow of their former self.

Potential silver lining:
If NRA is dissolved, does that mean I can finally join Tri City Gun Club?
Can't have a prerequisite to be an NRA member if there is no NRA...
Full disclosure:
That's not the only reason I'm not a TCGC member.
50+% is because every time I've ever been *not* as @Mad Professor 's guest, I've been yelled at over something trivial.
That what has always kept me from joining them as well

Here, but occasionally There.
If you’re not comfortable with the idea of becoming an outlaw, consider becoming a scofflaw. If you can’t come to terms with these concepts then the only remaining option is a future in agricultural supplementation.

If you’re willing to hang your hat on the peg that D.C. represents, then your next necktie is going to be almighty uncomfortable.

The individual that you are quoting and presumably directing your comments to has passed away. Plus, this thread is about a year old.
