NW Oklahoma Elk Season

Is this the first Year they have offered the Hunt? I have never seen it before (which does not mean allot)?

Are there any Elk in those 3 counties?

Ok the zone limit is two where have the Elk been seen? My lease is about nine miles from Thomas barely in Dewey county? So it just had me wondering where they are?

From my understanding, the elk around the state are VERY localized. Either you got a few or you don't, if you had some you would know it.

They are in the far western parts of the Panhandle, mostly along the river where they come down out of Colorado and New Mexico.

As I understand it Elk is open Statewide (public land) but each area differs by "geographical section" in regards to limits/total quota. Big herd in Dewey county around Webb/Camargo.

I will say my good buddy has some on his place in the SE unit and I super stoked about heading down there this year. Hoping the quota isn't filled in that unit by the time rifle season rolls around!

I just hope I get my elk rifle back in time for my January New Mexico elk hunt. I have a rifle that will work here for Oklahoma.
