I wonder if the left is behind the whole campaign to keep conservatives from wearing masks? Anything to keep em from the polls and such...

The left is behind the efforts to shut down the economy as it is the only way to beat Trump. The anti-government conspiracy theorist and the "I don't have to do anything I don't like" is behind the anti-mask campaign. Personally I think if people would pull their heads out, wear a mask in public and wash their hands, we would not have the possibility of a 2nd round of shutdowns.

Right there with you Rick. Personal responsibility isn't a right to shirk responsibility. I listened to my mother tell me how wearing masks in public is the step before sharia law requires burkas... she's the boomerest boomer I know, and I love her for it.

For people who don't understand what it means to be on a ventilator but want to take the chance to go out:

For starters, it is NOT an oxygen mask that is put over the mouth while the patient comfortably lies down and reads journals.

Ventilation for Covid-19 is a painful intubation that goes down your throat and stays there until you live or you die.

It is done during anesthesia for 2 to 3 weeks without moving, often upside down, with a tube deposited from your mouth up to the air pipe and allows you to breathe to the rhythm of the lung machine.

Patient can't talk or eat or do anything natural - the machine keeps you alive. Discomfort and pain they feel from this means that medical experts must administer sedatives and pain meds to ensure pipe tolerance as long as the machine is needed.

It's like being in an artificial coma. After 20 days from this treatment, a young patient loses 40% muscle mass and gets trauma in the mouth or voice cords, as well as possible lung or heart complications.

It is for this reason that old or already weak people can't stand treatment and die. Many of us are in this boat...so stay safe if you don't want to take the chance to end up here. This is NOT the flu!

They put a tube in your stomach, either through your nose or skin for liquid food, a sticky bag around your butt to collect diarrhea, one to collect urine, an IV for liquids and meds an A-line to monitor your BP it is completely dependent on finely calculated with doses, teams of nurses, CRNA and MA to move your limbs every two hours and lie on a carpet circulating ice cold liquid to help reduce your 104° degree temp.

All of this while your loved ones cannot even come to visit. You will be alone in a room with your machine. Or your mother will. Or your father. Or your son or daughter. Or wife or husband.

But...you think wearing a mask is uncomfortable and humiliating.

I spent several weeks on a ventilator last year for whatever virus or bug it was that attacked me. I now am on heart meds and my lung is permanently damaged. I found out last week I will be on O2 the rest of my life.

Some people will need to end up in the hospital / ICU and incurring massive hospital bills, before they will think “well, maybe I should have worn a mask; maybe this could have been prevented”.

I had an RN friend of mine telling me about 30 something that he was treating. The patient had pneumonia in one lung and the doctor was removing a bunch of pus from the other lung. No thanks, I’ll pass on that experience.

On the bright side, there's a Texas doctor that boasts a silver bullet treatment for covid. It's an airway anti-inflammatory normally given to asthmatics.

I believe it can be pretty beneficial. My doc thinks my singular I take is why my covid case went largely unnoticed except for a cough. Dad takes it too, he swept through it no prob. Mom doesn't take it, she had a harder time with it. This was back in February before it was supposed to be here. I didn't find out I had had it until I caught a quarantine and mentioned to the health dept that I'm pretty sure I'd had it. They did blood, I had antibodies. Mom and dad also had antibodies. Then again, it could have just been a lesser strain.

Interesting. Glad you all made it through. I’ve also read that blood type can play a role in the infection. Are you and your dad type “O”?

Pardon me for jumping in here, but that is the absolute truth. I’m a Trump supporter for the things he has done and what he proposes to do. I will vote for him. However, Trump’s handlers need to cancel his Twitter account and muzzle his rhetoric.

No the only way is if the economy tanks. Most people either like the way Trump fights back or are used to it after 3 1/2 years.
