Little Miami High School in Oxford, Ohio, suspended two football players after they carried "thin blue line" and "thin red line" flags across the field on Sept. 11 in defiance of school orders.

Players Brady Williams and Jared Bentley asked permission to carry the flags, which are meant to express support for law enforcement and firefighters, at the start of their game last Friday on "Patriot Night" but were told no, according to Local 12 WKRC-TV.

"Little Miami Local Schools is saddened to see this story take such a negative turn. While we understand these students' desire show their support of our first responders, they did not obtain permission from district officials," Little Miami High School said in a statement, according to Fox 19. "Administrators must act when students break the rules."

The school added that it organized its Patriot Night program "to memorialize the victims of 9/11." The program "was already part of our pre-game ceremonies on Friday, and the American flag is the first thing through the tunnel every Friday night."

"Little Miami always has – and always will – support our first responders, our veterans, and all who sacrifice to maintain our freedoms," the statement said.

Community members are planning to rally around the two students at their next home game to show support for their actions, according to the outlet.

Actions speak louder than words. Punishing the students showed the true colors of the school and district. As the saying goes, "Everything before the BUT is bullsh!t," and all the excuses and "we back first responders" from the school/district is BS.

The schools actions would be warranted if the students carried out KKK, BLM, Nazi flags etc. BUT, to punish students for proudly displaying first responders flags, for an event/day commemorating first responders is lunacy.

The school/district should have been honest and said the following:

"We are putting on a 'First Responders' event to bring in the masses to pay to watch a game to bolster our revenue; BUT we will continue to indoctrinate your children in the works of our lord and savior Karl Marx. Any student descension from our directives/gospels will not be tolerated."

Always remember, we are descendants of Men who would not be ruled.

"Watch your six, count your rounds, and keep your powder dry."

Can’t say I disagree with the school BUTTTTTTT I am glad to see these kids do it regardless. They couldn’t just ignore the actions after the kids ignored their answer Hopefully the town rallies around them like they said would!

I'm with you on this. They were told not to, they did it anyway, actions have consequences. It's a good lesson every person should learn in their youth.
