I have 3 of the Savage 340 rifles in 22 Hornet, and a 325A in 30-30. All good guns, the 30-30 with cast lead loads is tons of fun. The Hornets are very accurate, I've taken several turkey with neck shots from my 340D.

I really like older rifles. Here is a pic of a 1923 Savage 25-20 rifle. I found this old sight and installed it hoping to shoot this better,
(Eyes). I've got 5 of these, A,B.C. and D models. I've also got a 1919 NRA 22 target. These old guns were the working man's rifle,no frills just a cheap accurate rifle. Anybody else here enjoy loading for and shooting these old guns.

My love is for the old .22 rifles. I have dozens of them. Mostly Savage/Stevens/Springfield but also others.

My most treasured are:

Pieper Bayard Boy's rifle in very good condition. From the 1920's.

Savage 29B Take-down Pump Action. She's rough, but shoots very well. From 1950

I love the old Savage rifles. I looked for Model 99 I could afford for years, then found three in the space of a year. My dad's rifle is a 99E in 308, mine are a 99F in 308 and a 99EG in 300 Savage. I'd love to get my hands on one of those 25-20s.

Wben I was a kid I shot my first coyote with a Savage 99 with a Lyman peep sight in 250-3000 that belonged to a cool old man, Leo Brinker east of Bison Ok.
He had a waterfowl sanctuary on his farm and stayed vigilant on coyotes. Let me take probably a 150yd shot.
You dont see many 250's around

If you like old lever guns you really should try a Model 99, imho. They are fantastic! I sold my Marlin because it was replaced with an early 99. The 99 just feels better to me and I am a much better shot with it than a 94. Might be mental but the fact is same.

lovely 99s as well.

oh, and I have tried to start this rumour: Agent 99 (Barbara Feldon) was named after the Savage 99 as they are both absolutely gorgeous!
