Couldn’t agree more except for your first sentence.

Managing for big racks is not helped by shooting immature bucks. I don’t care what part of the state or the land type. I know plenty of people who will shoot the first buck that they see because they know they can then be patient waiting on a bigger buck to come along. A 1 buck limit would encourage a lot of people to be more patient and let young bucks walk.

If you want to fill the freezer there are plenty of doe tags to be filled.
You're not wrong.

However I'm referring to deer that will never develop a "nice" rack. They're pretty easy to identify even when young. A button buck should always get a pass.

However, a three year old four points with a 4" spread is a great cull.

Personally, I wouldn’t take more than one off my lease, but, that’s my lease. If I had a chance to hunt somewhere else during the season and had a chance at a nice buck, heck yes. Just my .02

And there’s the whole ‘know what you’re shooting’ thing. I work with a guy that insists that it’s impossible to tell the difference between a first year doe and a 3 year old.
