Saturday's range trip wasn't a good one for me,,, I got to the range with my CZ-512 and brand new Cabela's 3-9x40 rimfire scope. I set up my stuff and put my spotting scope on the tripod,,, All I could see through it was a vertical blur. I unscrewed the eyepiece and found that one of the elements had popped loose and went sideways,,, I was able to fit it back in place but who knows how long it will last now. You would think that a $39.95 Remington spotting scope would last more then 9 years. Once I got that patched for the moment I fired 25 rounds,,, I reloaded my mags and prepared to shoot again,,, The reticle on my scope had rotated 30 degrees. Dang! said I. I just bought this scope a few weeks ago,,, It's only been to the range one time before this. So I'm on-line with Cabela's customer service,,, I've never had grief from Cabela's people,,, This time was no different than before. While we were chatting on-line,,, The e-mail with the return shipping label hit my in-box. It's all boxed up and will be in the mail today. The defective scope is the Cabela's 3-9x40,,, I should have read the reviews before I purchased it,,, Three other people reported the same reticle shift that I experienced. This surprised me as I own three other Cabela's branded scopes,,, Those have all been solid scopes for several years now. I think I'll upgrade to a Nikon Prostaff Rimfire Scope,,, It's only $40.00 more for the same 3-9x40. I have become enamored lately with 100 yard benchrest shooting,,, I might spend an additional $20.00 and get the 4-12x40. This CZ rifle has the inherent accuracy to warrant good glass,,, I simply cheaped out when I ordered the Cabela's branded scope. Oh well,,, Aarond .
