gunbuffer gave the answer. S&W Kframe. When my daughter left for college I gave her a S&W model 64 3inch round butt, bobbed hammer, rounded and smoothed trigger. She left with the pistol and 3 speed loaders.

Either a K-, or L-frame in 38 or 357. Adjustable sights are not needed for home defense. Minimun 3" barrel, but prefer 4' for the longer sight radius and point-ability.

Model 10 is a good choice or Model 13, 64, or 65. These can still be had for reasonable prices.

I would normally say GP100 or Security Six, but the 3" LCR in .38 Spl might be a good choice, in that it is light, cheap, and still enough to hold on to. I would definitely not do a tiny revolver like a Smith Airweight.

686/586... or a colt python!!!!

If I take her gun shopping, and come across a decent python for sale at a good price, do you really think I’m going to let a non-enthusiast buy it and take it home to lie in a sock drawer? Nope. That thing be comin’ home with me.
