Made it to the top!
Drove the F-250 up La Plata Canyon by Durango today.
Got to the end of the main road at 11,000 ft or so and decided to take the back road to the very top across the side of the mountain to the peak of Kennebec Pass.
White knuckle all the way for most of a mile with the canyon wall on one side and a 500-800’ drop a foot outside the tires most of the way up and down. Had to roll in the side mirrors so we could hug the canyon wall on the road designed for Jeep’s and UTv’s. According to the GPS we ended up at exactly 12,000 ft.

In this pic above, you can see the trail we had to traverse across the mountain.

The pic below was almost all the way to the top above timberline where very little plant life exists.

The views were amazing.

On the other side of the pass it’s now private property and fenced off.
With the naked eye it appears there is a tent of some sort set up down there and possibly a vehicle just between it and us that went over the side. It was almost a mile away so hard to tell exactly.

On the way down, we hiked a short trail. The raspberries were ripe! Ended up with about half a cup after gorging on them while picking.

Also found some common lacceria mushrooms. They are edible but not the most tasty of shrooms so we left them alone.

The whistle pigs were everywhere. (Marmots)

Kennebec in a 250 was probably quite the challenge! I love the area. California Gulch might have been a stretch for the 250 but I bet it’s doable. Beautiful pics BTW
We did California Gulch last year in a jeep rubicon.
Next week it’s Devils Revenge and a couple others I don’t remember but they will be in UTV’s.

Good morning.
We are heading up the Zugspitze today. It’s the highest mountain in Germany. Also the border between Germany and Austria runs across the top so you can literally stand in both h countries at once. smShould be a fun day trip.
Wishing you all a great Friday.

We ate at the Hofbrauhaus Biergarten last night here in Munich. It is the oldest and largest Biergarten in Germany. 3 stories of indoor dining and a huge open atrium in the middle. That’s where we ate.
We had roasted chicken, roasted pork knuckle, potato soup and pike perch. And lots of beer.
