That would be a lot of folks dream. Congrats for making it happen.

Iā€™m another surprised to hear ā€œremodelā€ and ā€œexpansionā€ after looking at pictures.

Iā€™ve been in a log home 30 miles south of the Canadian border for half the year now for 16 years. Had to sell this summer due to a couple health issues. Couldnā€™t imagine 365 days a year on a cul-de-sac after living backwoods like that. Thought to do something similar as I withdrew back into Oklahoma. More modest but something 40 acres or up. Now thereā€™s more complications so weā€™ll see. Nice to witness another making it work.

For many and sometimes me it does seem like it can be silly to remodel and not just move in as is. It is definitely livable. Was built in about 2005. It is more dated being the interior is 17 years old and could use some TLC. We have a contractor lined up with highly recommended architects in his sphere. We are going to get two prices. One for an interior remodel including remodeled kitchen, 2.5 baths, all carpet out and wood floors in, all new doors/casings/trim (current are all hollow core doors), new crown and base molding, and install a new rock wood burning fireplace floor to ceiling. Some other stuff as well. The second option, dependent on additional costs, is to do all this but expand the living room and kitchen out about another 15' and add a second master suite on the first floor. Currently the home only has the master suite downstairs and all other bedrooms on second floor. We both have elderly parents so this second master bed/bath would be very handy.

In the end, this is our forever-home/property so spending a bit more than we really need to is fine with us.

If you can afford it, make it what you want it to be!

Teresa and I know just how you feel. We just closed on a house in Enid, and plan to keep the house near Medford for weekends, etc.

Congratulations!!
