From what I understand, .380 ammo will actually run in many 9mm semi-autos. The ejector extractor prevents the round from going too deep in the chamber, and therefore keeps it within reach of the firing pin. It's a more/less "slop-fit" though, and most likely rather hard on the ejector extractor.

Didn’t you mean extractor instead of ejector? Kinda like the difference between clip and magazine.
