I agree with the statement about good men doing nothing and I commend you for speaking out, but we must also realize there are some among us who benefit from the status quo of corruption in our state. And Owasso is not alone, ask people in Rogers Co.why the Grand Jury Petition demanding investigation of the deaths of several children and "problems" with evidence and other issues in criminal cases was buried. There have been more Grand Jury cases across the state that everyone should be aware of, (GJ filings are on OSCN). Statewide we should ask where the money went from the 100 or so "funded" but empty slots revealed by the audit of the Drug Court System. Or the audit of the Oklahoma Commission on Children and Youth that exposed "Ghost Children" in the foster care system used to commit fraud and collect funding, or the "Ghost Employees" in the Dept. of Health, (said to be family members of legislators. There was also the "Background check scandal" and resulting embezzlement suit regarding DHS workers and foster parents. There is currently a class action lawsuit that will likely cost taxpayers $10 mil.or more in legal fees alone regarding foster care and officials can't even tell us how many children are in foster care. There was also the millions lost in the Great Plains Airlines scandal in Tulsa. And this is just the tip of the iceberg, for a bigger chunk look at prowlingowl.com. Schools are not immune either, there was the "Academy" scandal where it has been said that TPS lawyers rewrote the public reports to eliminate evidence of criminal acts. This regarded "special needs children", I think there was a simular situation in the OKC. School system which resulted in lawsuits. Google "Paul Jacobs" and ask your self why independent candidates were not allowed on our state ballot during the last election like they were in 48 other states. We must also remember history, Oklahoma still holds the record for the biggest public official scandal in U.S. history, (the County Commissioner scandal) and the biggest judicial scandal in U.S. history, (mid 1960's). And since some of the same political families continue in power, (paid for those turnpikes yet?) can we really expect anything to change?
