Surprised I had to read this in the NY Post and not here.

A pack of vicious wiener dogs mauled an Oklahoma woman to death, according to reports.

Tracy Garcia was standing outside her home last week when her neighbor’s six standard dachshund and terrier mixes and one border collie mix suddenly attacked her — leaving her with injuries so severe, she later died.

“This is a bad situation, a very unfortunate situation,” Carter County Sheriff Chris Bryant told KTEN. “This is just a bad deal all the way around.”

Deputies shot and killed one dog who charged at them and the other six were taken to the Westwood Veterinary Hospital to be put down at the owner’s request.

The dogs involved in the attack were all under 40 pounds, with legs shorter than an adult’s hands, according to images of their remains reviewed by the Daily Ardmoreite.

“They have really noticeable characteristics like their knobby legs, knees, very short-legged dogs,” euthanasia technician Amanda Dinwiddie told KXII.

Six of the dogs were about 1 year old and the seventh was about 3 years old and possibly the pack’s mother.

All were infested with fleas and ticks, Dinwiddie said.

“We were cleaning ticks off ourselves all day,” she said. “They are very covered, you can tell they have been living out in the woods.”

It’s unclear what led to the attack, but the investigation is ongoing.

Garcia, 52, a housekeeper at the Hilton Inn, was buried Tuesday and is survived by a son and daughter, according to her obituary.

Yeah, it was on our local news and they showed some of the dead dogs the first day or so. Looked like mostly dachshund and pit bull mix to me (they have a very distinctive head shape).

Sad deal in any case. :/

Ok, I have a "knobby-legged, knees, short-legged" dog that if he was under fed would be "less than 40 pounds" but he is stout as an ox and I have no doubt could do some serious damage if he was so inclined.

People who don't know dogs would think is was "part Dachshund" because he is short legged and long bodied with shorter ears than a Bassett Hound.

Truth is ANY dog can do serious damage if it is so inclined, especially if there is more than one.

Although I'm more skeert of that cat over there. Lol those little ****ers are QUICK!! At least if its ONE dog I have a fighting chance. Am I right @caojyn ??

There were 7 dogs though. Sheesh, 7 bloodthirsty chihuahuas would be a handful.

I "worked" with a woman who had her nose and part of a cheek torn off by a Pekinese. A freeking Pekinese for heaven's sake. A dog that had never bitten, or shown any inclination to bite, before. Didn't growl, no hackles up, tail never stopped wagging, no body language to indicate it was uncomfortable with her. Just SNAP SNAP SNAP that was it. She was a first year veterinary student doing a summer job in between her spring and fall semester at my dad's practice. I had handled that dog a dozen times. I was 10 at the time so to say that dog's face had been inches away from mine each time was not an understatement. Why that dog attacked her and had never turned on anyone else in it's several years on this planet is still a mystery. Dogs be dogs. They are wonderful companions. But they are still animals. To ignore that is to our peril.

Back when I was in Jr high-high school(mid 60 late 60s) I raised "full sized" Dachshunds. Most of you probably know Dachshunds were bred by Germans to go underground in badger tunnels to pull them out. My female was about 25 lbs. or so and the male was probably 35 lbs. The female was as sweet as she could be and would even let me help with the pups when they were breech birth. The male on the other hand would protect me but you sure didn't want to try to take his squirrel scraps away when we fed him. A German Shepard got after him one day and Sergeant ran around him and came thru his legs and grab his throat and threw him to the ground. Had a tough time getting him off the Shepard. All said they are great dogs not the little inbred things you see today for the most part. Any dog can go savage just like people if treated wrong

No matter the size, ya gotta be one mean dog to willingly attack badgers face-first... :D
