I recently inherited these two pieces that my grandfather had bought probably 20+ years ago. My mother just passed them to me because they’ve just been sitting on a shelf all this time.

I’m looking to find out more about them. I don’t really even know where to begin. The one with the brass barrel is likely just a show piece, but others have said the one with the rifle type of buttstock appears to be real. If anyone knows of a source I should find or maybe even an appraiser that would be able to look into it, I would greatly appreciate the input.

The brass barrel is 10.5” deep and the other one is 8” deep.

Not the everyday fair for sure.
I would GUESS they are of Mediterranean origin from the general style and decoration.
The script is carved in the tang is not one I recognize, and I do not see any people or animals in the carving, so they probably are not European and may be from an area with heavy Muslim influence.

Could be the real deal or just tourist pieces.
The pistol has rather sharp corners on the wood for something that should be 300 years old.
There are a few other things on it that also say not so old and probably a prop or tourist piece.

The musketoon seems to have more honest ware. The screw slot on the cock is V shaped and the threads are crude, which is right. The engraving on the lock is significantly more delicate than the rest of the gun, so I dont think the lock was made by whomever assembled the gun. That would not be uncommon if the gun was assembled from recycled parts, and not unusual in many developing nations for the past several hundred years.
