I know the LDA stands for light double action. Is it DAO, or can it be operated as a typical SA 1911? The videos that I’ve watched show it being used as DA, but it looks like it could possibly be used SA. I couldn’t find a definite answer on the web so I thought that I’d just ask you guys. Thanks

It's DAO. Sort of. The LDA pistols actually have two hammers. One internal and the external hammer. I forget exactly how they work but I know that pulling the trigger to "cock" the external hammer eventually trips the inner hammer and causes it, and the external hammer, to fall simultaneously. Most of this double hammer stuff is transparent to the user so it seems just like a standard DAO action.

I messed with a couple of them but it's been 15 years or more.

I had one. A really nice one! Traded it for my first Automag IV.
I am a 1911 shooter. I could NOT get used to the trigger reset. I essentially had to slap my finger forward to the trigger guard then pull again.
Mine had a tactile and audible click at the exact point a standard 1911 trigger would reset. If you pulled at that point the LDA would just be locked.
You have to let the trigger forward to the SECOND tactile and audible click be fore pulling the trigger again.
I couldn't get used to it.
You should definitely try one out. They are quite amazing if you've never used a 1911 before.

I think finding one today will be the problem.

I have one I would sell if you’re interested. Just PM me. I found the LDA was very light but Like others, I couldn’t get past the lack of hammer for a 1911 style pistol.
