Pauls Valley is more dangerous than Del City? WTF?

Doing a little digging, Pauls Valley crime rate is right up there with the metro area. Why is this? Every article I read includes Pauls Valley.

I’ve never been the biggest fan of this place, but I didn’t expect such a strong distaste from outsiders.

From my understanding, which is just what I was told 15 years ago when my family moved here, PV’s city limits holds around 6,000 people, but there’s close to double that in its “metropolitan” area. The Walmart DC and the thermoplastic manufacturing facility that changes names every few years are part the supposed draw that brings that larger number in, though not all neighborhoods are inside the city limits.

I can’t verify this info but if it is true, then that would likely put the crime rate much lower per capita; closer to other towns if it’s size.
