Well I ended up going with the Garand after all. I really didn't have enough ammo to do it any other way. I won't make excuses for my shooting other than just read what I posted yesterday. I was pretty happy with the way it turned out, I got hits on all the targets except the very last one and the "one shot one kill". I just was not shooting well enough to get ALL the hits needed, I would have ran out of ammo. I was pretty happy with how well I walked the course, and the pace I kept. My biggest takeaways are, I need to continue to get in better shape, I would have liked to have been able to jog parts of the course. As it was I just jogged away from the start and then set to walking. I know I need more trigger time behind iron sights, I have an AR set up with irons for that exact reason. I have wanted to get to an Appleseed for a couple years now, that desire just went way up. I have always known the Garand was an amazing rifle, and knew what OTHERS had done with it, today i got a small glimpse into what I could do with it. Again, not making excuses but if I had done the work before hand to have a good load and knew where it was hitting with confidence, I know what I could have done. Thanks to all the guys who put this match together and helped run it. We are indeed fortunate to have the chance to shoot a match like this, in an area like that. Thanks to all the other competitors, as well. I had an absolute blast.
