Permanently attaching the QD mount?

I have a 14.5" barrel on one of my AR's that has a flash hider pinned and welded bringing the overall length to 16" and therefore keeping me from having have it registered as a SBR. I want to permanently attach the QD mount from YHM onto this barrel. I talked to YHM and they suggested against doing this as they said the ring sometimes needs to be serviced from the rear of the mount and permanently attaching it would prevent this and would also void the warranty on the mount. I could give a rat's behind about the warranty. I would just buy a new one and have it put on if I ever needed to. My question is, has anyone else ever done this? Is it even possible to permanently attach? What are my other options? Go the SBR route?

Well I don't know about the YHM mount, but Noveske pinned and welded the AAC 51T flash hider/mount on my 14.5" barrel for my M4-2000. I'd say John knows what he's doing.
