If a fella wants to hunt from 500-800 yards with his Remington 700 SVT, where would you start the load development for Coyote sized targets?

What is your favorite .308 hunting load?

I do more hunting with my .270 than my .308, but my .308 shoots 165 grain Nosler Ballistic tips over 44.5 grains Reloader 15 pretty well (I forget the OAL at the moment, and I'm not near my notes). My rifle is a 20" Savage Model 10 FP, and this load gives me about 2650 fps. I would say I average between 0.6 and 0.7 MOA at 100 yards.

I don't own a .308, but the know it alls in the gun magazines always say the 150 grain Bullet is the sweet spot in that caliber.
That's what I have always shot in them. I never reloaded for the .308 prior. I'm thinking 168gr barnes triple shots x boats over 44.5 grains of Varget. We shall see..

500-800 yards for coyote size targets...I would work up a load for Hornady's 178 grain ELD-X bullet.
You want a match quality bullet with terminal performance for those ranges. You can buy these pre-rolled if you desire.
