Because that often occurs six weeks into a pregnancy, the measure effectively outlawed abortions in the middle of the first trimester, which is clearly illegal under the Supreme Court’s <a href="https://www.oyez.org/cases/1991/91-744" target="_blank">abortion precedents</a>.
