The following was posted earlier today by someone in a neighborhood near ours. I know sometimes it is easy to forget something in your car, like a child or a gun, or checkbook or house keys, but good grief, please don't let it be anyone from this group.

Someone broke into our truck last night and stole 2 hand guns, a checkbook, house keys and other items. The guns are registered and the police were called. I thought we were in a safe area. I have reported this information to the police.

I am sorry to those that do it, but I still think leaving a gun in your car nowadays is just asking to have it stolen. It is not like when we were young and everyone had a gun rack in their truck.

Folks in my neighborhood and all around me in South Tulsa, Jenks and Bixby are always posting videos of people shaking car door handles at night. Neighbors truck got stolen the other night across the street. It doesn't matter where you live. The criminals are everywhere. Cops simply don't have the manpower to drive around neighbor hoods like they did 25 years ago or even work traffic. Most of these folks are just looking for opportunity's.

This was on the “Neighborhood” app, and is in a pretty nice neighborhood, so you would think people would b3 a little smarter than this. So now, someone has a couple of guns, a checkbook with names, etc., and keys to a $300,000 home. What could possibly go wrong?

@DavidMcMillan they have keys but also when people leave the car unlocked. All they have to do is hit the garage door opener and they just walk right in and help themselves.

Employees often must leave a firearm in their vehicle.

That's not an excuse. There are all sorts of ways to secure your firearm in a vehicle. If you can't carry it or secure it leave it at home locked up in a gun safe.
