Wow... not really a rant. My feelings on the NRA are highly split, but mostly I am against being harassed and annoyed.

Friend of mine turned on an old computer of his and it took 45 minutes to download new emails. Over 9000 of them. Most notably he had 1,400 emails from the NRA in 6 months' time, 90% of which he said were begging for money.

Seriously???? 1400???

Wow.

Pffftttt. I get anywhere from 60 to 150 junk emails per day. NRA is a real lightweight compared to some. Especially financial/investment hacks trying to get you to give them your money.

I have 3 main email addresses, one for personal family type stuff, one for financial and bills, and one for everything else which I don't even connect to my email client, I just log into webmail for that one. With the selling of our information all over the world I give out my cell number and email very carefully these days.

Exactly, I've had people get very upset with me (salesmen) when I refuse to give out my cell phone number. Sorry, in my line of work, I am very careful with that, and since I sleep during the day and work at night, I don't want people calling me. I turn my ringer off when I go to sleep anyways, but I never answer a number I don't recognize.

Annoying cals and emails from NRA aren't the only complaints I have about the NRA
Agreed, there are other issues, as well... I just found this absolutely astonishing. How in the name of the nine hells do you as an organization NOT figure this is going to annoy people to the point they avoid you? There is not only a point of diminishing returns, but there is a point where you are actively driving away your supporters by being that whiny f***ing 2 year-old throwing a tantrum at the grocery store when you don't get every little thing that catches your eye in the candy aisle.

FFS, man, I would NEVER willingly give my money to an organization that values me so LITTLE that they send me that much sh|tmail. This has been my point about the NRA for YEARS... yes, they are (supposedly) fighting for our gun rights, but how many GD'd people are they driving away with their f***ing stupidity???

Well, me, for one. And I give money, and plenty of it, to causes I believe in. NRA, you've lost my money for years and will continue to do so - and I'm guessing I'm not the only one, not by a long shot.

Nope, not at all. I have a large group of associates down here in the local community and very few now support the NRA, GOA and others absolutely, but the NRA gets nada from most of them and for the exact same reasons you mentioned.

They don't call me anymore. And they don't send me emails. It took some doing and me saying some very colorful things to the young man on the phone -- 3 weeks in a row -- but now he is as sure as the sun rises of a few things:

1. I know his name and where he works. :contract:
2. "Accidentally" cutting me off doesn't work.:ooh2:
3. I do not want their emails, phone calls or junk mail.:smack:
4. I can reach out and make him gasp like a virginal schoolgirl. :ooh2:

Problem solved. :sunbath:

Can you elaborate on that one a little bit ??? :rubhands:

Lmao! Yeah ... I'm pretty sure the mods would take me to the woodshed. But, I will tell you this -- when I was in college I got an obscene phone call one night. The first couple of times the guy started talking I hung up, just like all the smart people say you are supposed to do.

The third time he called I let him talk until he stopped and said "Are you there?" To which I replied "Well, yeah, but I'm waiting on you to come up with something I haven't tried before. So far all I hear is pretty plain Jane." He hung up on me!! :selfangel

Next night he calls again. I just listen. Same thing -- he starts stuttering, wanting to know if I heard him and I'm like "Well, yeah, but ... yawn, I dunno, dude. Do you ever actually date or are you just reading from some porn mag?" He hung up on me AGAIN!! :naughty:

Doesn't call again for a week. Then he calls and I cut him off before he gets started good and tell him ALL ABOUT what I'm gonna do to him if he will just come on over. He hangs up.

Calls me back in a half hour or so and says, "Can I ask you something?" I'm like "Sure." So then he's all do you know who I am, aren't you afraid of some guy you've never seen, blah, blah, blah.

I tell him I'm not gonna try and guess who he is, he's already overplayed his hand because he couldn't even spin a good tale about what he wanted to do to me, and no I wasn't afraid of him because in MY house we followed MY rules when it came to sex. And I was pretty sure he wasn't gonna be able to keep up if he ever grew a hair on his balls and actually showed up at my place.

You know that guy called me every week or so for almost a year. Most times he'd talk about how his week had gone, ask me what I'd been up to, just casual conversation. I never did find out who he was. I know it sounds like something I made up but it's a true story. Lol
