PB Blaster is a much better penetrating oil than WD-40. WD-40 was in fact never meant to be a penetrating oil--it's a Water Displacement (hence the name) oil, originally formulated to keep the Atlas missile from rusting in the silo. It works, kinda-sorta, in the penetrating oil role, but is decidedly suboptimal.

When it come to penetrating oils, Liquid Wrench is king IMO.

YMMV. :drunk2:

Nothing beats Kroil for a penetrating oil. Typically sold in industrial supply houses, but I've seen it at auto parts stores.
After over 30 years in industrial maintenance work, nothing works better. Everybody swears by it.

Annie, always ask questions of the men coming to your house to repair things. The next time you might be able to personally fix the thing without help. Men are able to help but sometimes you need to do it youself.
