At my last company we had a large presence in the Dallas area since we had an office there. Many of the IT folks would come up from the Dallas office to help with large project here in Tulsa and we spent a lot of time together. Many of the folks who came up from Texas had hispanic last names with families who had emigrated a generation or two earlier. I spent hours working with these great people and we got to discuss a lot of issues, including immigration. At the time, there was a big story in the news about immigrant high school students in California raising the Mexican flag at their school's flagpole. My coworkers were enraged at how these largely illegal immigrants could be so bold as to expect everything handed to them once they crossed the US border. My coworkers went on to say that their grandparents had come to the US from Mexico, sat up shop, became citizens and paid taxes. They did it the RIGHT way and raised educated children who secured great jobs in the professional workplace. I don't have a problem with immigration. I do have a problem with people that come in, take benefits from taxpayers and don't pay much back into the system. Come over, learn the American way as you are in America now. Become a citizen. Do it as it should be done.
