I dont know what kind of Oklahoma trash you guys listen to but clearly Hanson and "mmmbop" was the best thing to ever come out of the Oklahoma music scene.

I hope it's all right to agree to disagree with that.
I'd rather listen to the sad refrain of the Gun Show Ramblers with their biggest hit, "Nothing But High Prices and Beanie Babies," than to suffer through the Boy Band 90s again. :D

I'm late to the party replying to this topic, page 8 already, that didn't take long.

I'm glad to see Jimmy Webb menioned, as well as Sheb Wooley.

Hoyt Axton, interesting fact, his cousin is david boren, former Oklahoma governor. Hoyt was quite a songwriter, he also wrote "The Pusher" by Steppenwolf. He was a huge talent of song writing.

If you ask people, what famous country singer is from Checotah, they always say Carrie Underwood, and rightfully so.
A little lesser known is Mel McDaniel, also from Checotah. He's one of my all time favorites.
